Ottawa-Carleton Assembly of School Councils

The Ottawa-Carleton Assembly of School Councils website was designed to reflect community connection, shared learning, and meaningful parent engagement across the district. The goal was to create a digital space that feels organized, welcoming, and easy for school council members and families to navigate.

Project overview

The organization needed a website that could clearly present information about meetings, parent resources, advocacy efforts, and opportunities for collaboration among school councils. The challenge was to structure a wide range of content — monthly meeting details, committee work, documentation archives, and guidance materials — in a way that helps users quickly find what they need without feeling overwhelmed.

Our approach

The website was designed with clarity and accessibility as its foundation. Key sections such as meeting schedules, resource libraries, and committee information were arranged in a logical hierarchy, allowing visitors to move easily between high-level overviews and detailed content. Navigation was simplified so council members, parents, and community partners could efficiently locate updates, participate in discussions, and access documents.

Visual design choices emphasize readability and function, using clean layouts, straightforward typography, and consistent spacing to support users who may be visiting with specific tasks in mind. Calls-to-action and essential links were placed where they naturally guide visitors toward attending meetings, exploring resources, or getting involved.

The final website design provides the Ottawa-Carleton Assembly of School Councils with a strong digital platform that supports communication, encourages participation, and reinforces its mission to strengthen collaboration and parent voice across the school community.
